How to Apply

  1. Determine your Consulate
China has an Embassy in Washington, D.C. and Consulates-General in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Each location covers specific U.S. states.
Find your correct consulate here: Chinese Embassy & Consular Network in the U.S.

  4. Make an Appointment (if required)
Some consulates require online appointment booking via the AVAS system:
    avas.mfa.gov.cn

  5. Submit Your Application
Bring your application, passport, and documents to your Consulate or Visa Center. Some locations allow agents to apply on your behalf.

  6. Pay Fees & Wait for Processing

    • Expedited: ~2–3 business days (extra fee)

  7. Collect Your Visa
Check your visa details immediately (dates, number of entries, spelling).

Notes

  • Apply at least 4–6 weeks before departure.
