Every traveler applies individually for a Tourist (L) visa through the New COVA system, then submits their passport and required originals to the Chinese Embassy/Consulate that serves their state of residence. Use the list below to find your office.

How to apply (summary)
  1. Complete your application in the New COVA system and upload the required documents.
  2. When your status shows “Passport to be submitted”, print the info page with barcode.
  3. Submit your passport + printed COVA page + any required originals to the office that serves your state.

Tip: Processing times and in-person requirements vary. Always follow the instructions on your office’s visa page.

If you live in a different state than listed for your chosen office, your application may be refused. Please apply only in your correct jurisdiction.
