Every traveler applies individually for a Tourist (L) visa through the New COVA system, then submits their passport and required originals to the Chinese Embassy/Consulate that serves their state of residence. Use the list below to find your office.

How to apply (summary)
- Complete your application in the New COVA system and upload the required documents.
- When your status shows “Passport to be submitted”, print the info page with barcode.
- Submit your passport + printed COVA page + any required originals to the office that serves your state.
Tip: Processing times and in-person requirements vary. Always follow the instructions on your office’s visa page.
If you live in a different state than listed for your chosen office, your application may be refused. Please apply only in your correct jurisdiction.
